
The Early Career Professionals Committee (EPC) is dedicated to fostering the growth and development of early career professionals within the transfusion. This committee plays a vital role in supporting emerging professionals by providing mentorship, professional development opportunities, and a platform for their voices to be heard. The committee also seeks to enhance membership engagement and foster collaborative relationships within the field and other societies.
Specific terms of reference are to:
Develop and oversee a mentoring program tailored for early career scientists within the field.
Advise BBTS Council on initiatives and strategies aimed at improving and sustaining membership among early career professionals, including exploring alternative methods of payments.
Assess the needs and preferences of members within lower bands, and devise strategies to enhance their experience within the BBTS.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with other committees to ensure input from early career professionals, including co-chairing the Margret Kenwright award with the annual conference committee.
Develop research grant opportunities with PEC specifically designed for early career professionals to participate in research activities, with the requirement of subsequent reporting and publication in Transfusion Medicine.
Form links and maintain liaison with other professional, regulatory, and employing bodies in pursuance of the terms of reference.
The Committee shall meet up to four times a year and will provide an annual report of its activities, together with an annual budgeted forward plan, as required by Council.
