BBTS Qualification Overview

Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice  

Enrolment for 2024-25 programme NOW CLOSED

The application and enrolment period will run 1st Oct - 12th Nov 2024 for the 2025-26 programme.         (Applications received outside of this period will not be considered).

This qualification is designed for healthcare practitioners working in a transfusion laboratory environment (e.g BMS, MLT or equivalent.)  Students will follow a 12 month guided distance learning programme, accredited  by The University of Manchester (45 level 7 credits).  Resources  include online tutorials and updated study book. BBTS membership is required at application.

Specialist Certificate in Stem Cell Transplantation Science 

Enrolment for 2024-25 programme NOW OPEN

This programme is for healthcare scientist staff working within stem cell laboratories or those who have an interest in stem cell or bone marrow transplantation and who have *access to a stem cell lab.                                                            *required for eligibility

The enrolment period for 2024-25 runs from 3rd Sept - 14th October 2024
(Applications received outside of this period will not be considered)


Specialist Certificate in Clinical Transfusion Practice

This qualification is designed for UK Nursing and Midwifery registered professionals and Health and Care Professions Council registered Biomedical Scientists working in transfusion in a hospital clinical environment, a hospital transfusion laboratory or blood establishment/ centre.

Students will follow a 12 month guided distance learning programme, accredited by The University of Manchester (45 level 7/ M-level credits).  Resources include online tutorials and study materials.  BBTS membership is required at application.
