BBTS Qualification Overview

NEW: The Specialist Certificate in Clinical Transfusion Practice

This qualification is designed for UK Nursing and Midwifery registered professionals and Health and Care Professions Council registered Biomedical Scientists working in transfusion in a hospital clinical environment, a hospital transfusion laboratory or blood establishment/ centre.

Students will follow a 12 month guided distance learning programme, accredited by The University of Manchester (45 level 7/ M-level credits).  Resources include a Virtual Learning Environment and study materials.  BBTS membership is required at application.

Applications are currently closed.
Applications for the 2020-21 enrolment period will only be accepted from 16th April – 31st May 2020.  (Applications received outside of this period will not be considered).

The Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice  

This qualification is designed for healthcare practitioners working in a transfusion laboratory environment (e.g BMS, MLT or equivalent.)  Students will follow a 12 month guided distance learning programme, accredited  by The University of Manchester (45 level 7 credits).  Resources  include a Virtual Learning Environment and updated study book. BBTS membership is required at application.

Applications for the next Enrolment Period will only be accepted from 1st October - 12th November 2019. (Applications received before enrolment opens, or after it closes, will not be considered).

MSc/PG Dip./PG Cert. Advanced Specialist Blood Transfusion 

This qualification is designed for healthcare practitioners working in clinical transfusion (e.g. Nurses, Haemovigilance/Transfusion Practitioners).

Students will follow a work-based learning route, delivered by Swansea University in partnership with BBTS, and developed to allow students to work at their own pace and react to learning opportunities in a real life setting.
