Dr Jamie Nash is a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and HCPC‑registered Biomedical Scientist at the Welsh Blood Service. He began his BSc in Biomedical Sciences at Cardiff Metropolitan University in 2015 and completed his PhD in 2022, specialising in optimising platelet storage, including work on cold‑stored platelets and improved storage conditions. His early contributions were recognised with the Scott Murphy Memorial Lectureship Award from the Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion Collaborative in 2022.

Jamie’s current research focuses on developing novel blood components for pre‑hospital treatment of major haemorrhage, aiming to enhance outcomes for patients experiencing severe trauma. He is currently funded by Health and Care Research Wales to develop a novel extracellular vesicle (EV) component. Alongside his research, he holds several national leadership roles, serving on the UK Young Academy, the British Society for Haematology Research and Grants Committee, and the Council of the British Blood Transfusion Society. He also founded and chairs the BBTS Early Career Professionals Committee, championing development opportunities and inspiring the next generation of transfusion professionals. In 2026, Jamie has been awarded the Race and Sanger Award for his contributions to EV research within transfusion medicine.
