Thomas Bailey-Schmidt

Tom trained as a biologist, specialising in molecular and protein chemistry before transitioning into component research and development. Now in the final year of his PhD, investigating novel cryoprotectants in blood component storage. He won the Marget Kenwright award in 2024, where he joined the committee, and the poster prize in 2025. Tom joined the committee to support the next generation of researchers within the transfusion community.
