Clinical Research Fellow, NHSBT, and DPhil student, Oxford University
Matt is a haematology registrar in the Thames Valley. He was an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Haematology where he developed research interests in patient reported outcome measures and quality of life in anaemia driven disorders. He is currently an NHS Blood and Transplant clinical research fellow undertaking a DPhil in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford to further focus on these research interests.
He is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy and co-designed and populated the transfusion section of the Pathology Portal. It was with this work that he won the BBTS Margaret Kenwright award in 2024 and then joined the committee as a medical trainee representative. Matt is also the transfusion lead for HaemSTAR and is keen to support transfusion-related projects and promote engagement of trainees with non-malignant haematology research.
Following completion of his training, Matt would like to work in Transfusion medicine and continue research to improve the use of blood products to support quality of life in supportive care.
