Lorraine LewisProsser

Having qualified as a Biomedical Scientist in 2007, Lorraine worked in haematology and transfusion laboratories within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board before becoming a Transfusion Practitioner in 2017 and soon after graduated with an MSc in Advanced Specialist Blood Transfusion Practice from Swansea University.

Lorraine’s current role as TP includes promoting safe and appropriate transfusion practice through education, training and assessment of many staff groups across different sites.  Undertaking audit is another large element of the role and using audit findings and collaborative working to improve outcomes is one aspect Lorraine thoroughly enjoys, she also has a keen interest in incident investigation particularly patient identification errors and human factors.

Lorraine has chaired the all-Wales Transfusion Practitioner group since 2022 when she also became a member of the BBTS Communications Committee.  She has been one of the representatives for Wales on the BBTS TP Special Interest Group since 2019 and is a representative on a number of other local and Wales-wide groups.
