Fees and Finance
NOTICE: Due to the withdrawal of our education course funding from the UK Blood Services, the BBTS has to raise prices this year. Please note this is the first increase to our course prices since 2014.
The cost of the programme is: £989This includes:
- a personal copy of the course text book 'Introduction to Transfusion Science Practice'
- access to student-only online resources
- the online examination fee
- one resit fee (if required)
- All students must be BBTS members
- on application
- throughout the programme (including any resit/deferral period)
- at examination and result release date
- Failure to maintain/renew membership fees may result in withdrawal from examination / programme and/or a deferral being voided.
If you are paying for yourself, there will be the option to pay the full fee up-front or to pay in three instalments, however, this will incur additional administration costs. Specific deadline dates for payments will be provided and reminders will be issued.
If your employer is funding your place, a purchase order (PO) will be requested (if your application has been approved) from the funding contact you have provided.
Please note:
- non-payment / late payment of course and/or BBTS membership fees will result in your suspension from the programme
- Persistent non-payment of fees/ no response to repeated correspondence from BBTS may result in your course place being withdrawn

Payment Dates for 2025 Programme:
All applicants:
Deposit (£197.80) - 31st January 2025 (deposit to have been paid by individual, and reclaimed from employer as necessary)
Self-funded:
Instalment 1 (£276.92 ) –14th May 2025
Instalment 2 (£276.92) – 31st July 2025
Instalment 3 (£276.92) – 31st October 2025
Employer-funded:
Full remaining balance (£791.20) – 30 days post invoice date / no later than 31st March 2025
