This module has been produced by Andrea Head, who was a senior nurse working in NHS Blood and Transplant. Andrea has extensive experience of leadership and transfusion liaison, having developed and established wide networks and worked in various teams at a national level.
The module is now led by Dr Tom Bullock, who is a Consultant Clinical Scientist (NHSBT) in Transfusion Medicine with a specialist interest in red cell immunohaematology. Tom has led laboratory teams and served as interim Chief Scientific Officer at NHSBT.
This module has been created/developed by Anne Lockhart, Biomedical Scientist Training Manager at the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS)

This module was originally developed by Dr Megan Rowley, who has been a Consultant Haematologist since 1993. She has worked in a number of settings - including both Teaching and District General Hospitals and has also worked for the Blood services in England and Scotland. Megan has been the local clinical audit leader for a busy DGH and also the clinical lead for the national comparative audit of blood transfusion initiative. She has contributed to a number of national groups that provide guidance to the blood transfusion community including the BSH Transfusion Taskforce. and the Joint Professional Advisory Committee (JPAC).
The module was updated by Joan Jones MBE, a Biomedical Scientist who spent over 40 years working in Wales in hospital transfusion laboratories and eventually as Head of Quality at the Welsh Blood Service.
The module has since been updated by Dr Heli Belfield who has worked for NHS Blood and Transplant for 20 years in Stem Cell transplantation and quality.

This module has been put together by Josephine McCullagh, Consultant Clinical Scientist - NHSBT & Barts Health.
This module has been prepared by Dr Heidi Doughty from Birmingham, supported by Dr Fatts Chowdhury from London.
Heidi Doughty is a retired consultant and honorary Reader in Transfusion medicine. She worked for NHSBT, University Hospitals Birmingham and Defence. She was previously the president of the British Blood Transfusion Society and chair of the NBTC Emergency Planning Working Group. She maintained an interest in trauma, pre-hospital transfusion, overseas development, and emergency preparedness.
Fatts Chowdhury is jointly employed by NHSBT and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. At NHSBT she is the clinical business continuity lead, part of the PBM national team and chairs the NBTC Emergency Planning Working Group and the Hamatology and Trauma Group. She is also the Chair of the UK Red Alert Planning Group. She is the Trust Transfusion Lead at Imperial. She has been an FRCPath examiner for Haematology since 2017, leading the part 1 essay paper from 2019-2025.
