BBTS Conference 2016

Abstract Submissions have now closed

The exchange of knowledge and the communication of the latest developments within blood transfusion is an exciting and stimulating part of our annual conference.

The British Blood Transfusion Society encourages the submission of original unpublished material at the time of the abstract submission deadline for consideration as poster or oral presentation at the 34th Annual Conference in Harrogate 21-23 September 2016.

The aim of an abstract is simple; to share research, knowledge and best practice in any discipline within transfusion.  The purpose of an abstract is to summarise the important aspects of the poster or oral presentation. The highest scoring abstracts in their categories will be considered to be presented orally.

Why submit an abstract for BBTS 2016?

An abstract, if selected for BBTS, can help your CPD portfolio and improve your CV and career development.  It can make others aware of your work and will bring you into contact with those in the transfusion world with similar interests.  In the current financial times, some Trusts are limiting attendance at meetings. Submitting an abstract could increase your chance of funding to attend the conference in Harrogate in September.

Margaret Kenwright Young Scientist Award

The six highest scoring abstracts under the Young Scientist category will be considered to be awarded a bursary to attend the conference (which includes registration, accommodation and travel expenses up to £100). Case reports would equally be welcome in the clinical transfusion and red cell immunology categories.

Journal of Transfusion Medicine

Accepted abstracts will be included in the October supplement of the British Blood Transfusion Society’s Journal of Transfusion Medicine. More than 4200 libraries globally have access to the journal’s current content and Transfusion Medicine is available free of charge or at a very low cost in 3811 of these libraries in the developing world.

BBTS Presenting Author Registration

An author from each abstract is expected to attend and present the poster or oral presentation. A presenting author who is only attending on Thursday 22nd September (Official Poster Viewing and Awards) can register for 50% of the day delegate rate.)
