BBTS Bursary

The BBTS bursary scheme gives transfusion professionals, who otherwise may not have been able to attend, the opportunity to experience a professional conference. 

The bursary includes full conference registration, accommodation and £150 towards travel expenses. Applicants earning up to the equivalent of AFC Band 6 will be considered.  

The BBTS Annual Conference offers the highest levels of knowledge, research, education and clinical practice.  


Who Can Apply?

Junior healthcare and laboratory staff, newly appointed transfusion practitioners, junior nursing and training medical grades.


Terms & Conditions

The BBTS bursary is awarded to enable individuals working at junior staff grades in transfusion medicine to experience the BBTS Annual Conference and for PhD students and newly qualified staff to present their research work at the meeting.

Successful applicants must already be, or must become, a member of the Society for the year of their bursary.

The number of bursaries will vary annually according to available budget. 

The selection procedure will be carried out by the Annual Conference Committee.

The total value of each bursary is a complimentary place at the BBTS Annual Conference including up to 3 nights accommodation, all meals, attendance at the Gala dinner and a maximum of £150 towards travel costs to be claimed retrospectively.

Applications will not be processed without the following documentation:

1. Completed application form including supporting statements from applicant and their employer

2. A list of national meetings the applicant has attended over the last 3 years
