Who We Are

Dr Jonathan Wallis. FRCP (UK) FRC Path

Consultant Haematologist at Freeman Hospital

I trained at Oxford, Westminster, Exeter and Newcastle and have been a consultant since 1990.

I am a clinical haematologist with a keen interest in transfusion. Publications include studies on leucodepletion and infection, TRALI, long term survival after transfusion, ‘where does blood go’ and the Tag & Label system for blood administration.

I have been active on regional and national transfusion committees, Chair of the BBTS HoT SIG and SMAC, and of the ISBT WP on Clinical Transfusion. I initiated and run the Newcastle course for TPs/BMSs on alternate years. I am Associate Editor of Transfusion Medicine.
