Who We Are

Mrs Chloe George

I am the Head of Manufacturing & Distribution for the Welsh Blood Service (WBS) and have worked within a Blood Establishment in different roles for the last 14 years.  This has given me a wide understanding of all the aspects in the field of blood transfusion and its extensive regulations. I have a detailed knowledge of the guidelines and standards that Blood Establishments are regulated against and am involved in interpreting changes to the guidelines and embedding them into WBS’ practises.

I have been a member of the BBTS since I became a registered BMS and have attended many of the annual conferences and I have contributed posters of research and development work I have been involved in on each occasion.  Last year I joined the Component Special Interest Group for BBTS and have been actively involved in setting the agenda for this year’s conference.  In addition to this, I actively promote the BBTS to colleagues and encourage them to attend the conference and get involved in the society. I am an advocate for the BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Practice, and I have supported staff within my laboratory to enrol and complete this qualification. I have also supported junior members of staff with bursary applications to attend the BBTS Annual Conference.

My current role involves delivering change and innovation and developing the strategic direction of travel for the WBS transfusion laboratories.
