I am an Advanced Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Red Cell Immunohaematology (RCI) at NHSBT Birmingham, where I have worked for over 20 years. During my career, I have also spent time working in the Red Cell Reference (RCR) laboratory at the International Blood Group Reference Laboratory (IBGRL). My areas of interest include complex serological investigations and training. I have presented serological case studies to multiple audiences; including at Regional Transfusion Committee (RTC) events, regional SpR training days and Blood Transfusion Education and Discussion Group (BTEDG) virtual sessions. I am a member of several specialist working groups within RCI, including the Manual Serology Working Group (MSWG), of which I am deputy chair. I am also a member of the Midlands and South West regional clinical Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) where the most complex patient referrals are discussed, and actions agreed to enhance patient care. I have been a member of the BBTS Comms committee since 2019. Outside of work, my hobbies include reading, especially crime fiction, watching movies and motorsports and baking.
