Michael Cahillane

I'm a Research Scientist at the Welsh Blood Service, where I collaboratively lead and support research and development in transfusion science, including blood component manufacture, testing, quality assurance and novel innovations. I'm also a HCPC-registered biomedical scientist and have completed an MSc in Applied Transfusion and Transplantation Science and the BBTS Specialist Certificate in Transfusion Science Practice and now support both programmes by presenting on the MSc course and marking and moderating the BBTS assessments. With over a decade of NHS experience and a strong foundation in technical processes, I try to promote a collaborative and strategic approach to my work. As a member of the BBTS Communications Committee since 2022, I'm tasked with contributing content from a Welsh perspective, helping to highlight the work and impact of transfusion services across Wales.
