Neil Kirkpatrick

I am Head Biomedical Scientist in Haematology and Blood Transfusion at the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust in Northern Ireland. With over a decade of rotational experience within the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service, I bring a wealth of transfusion knowledge and practical expertise to the BBTS Communications Committee, offering a Northern Ireland perspective.

I was fortunate to undertake a secondment with the Red Cell Immunohaematology (RCI) Laboratory at NHSBT Colindale, which further developed my strong professional interest and passion for complex antibody investigations. I have also played a key role in the implementation of a regional Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across Northern Ireland, an initiative I was privileged to present internationally in 2025.

Outside of work, I enjoy nothing more than escaping to the countryside or travelling abroad.
