Annual Scotblood conference is taking place Thursday 29th and Friday 30th of May and will be held at Stirling University. The programme for this year's Conference includes national and international speakers discussing how we can improve patient and donor care using existing and new novel applications in the field of transfusion and transplantation. The Thursday programme will discuss both the current treatment and management of sickle cell disease and how a novel cellular therapy will treat this condition in the future. Furthermore, we will also be look at the introduction of innovations in the blood service and transplantation to ensure safety is maintained and improved. The Friday programme will be focusing on how new technologies such as AI may be able to assist in the field of transplantation and transfusion. Additionally, Professor Stuart Forbes will be discussing the recent successes in the use of macrophage therapies for the treatment of liver disease.
