The British Blood Transfusion Society (BBTS) has appointed Danny Gaskin as its Honorary Secretary, following unanimous approval by Council at its March meeting.
Danny is a Biomedical Scientist and currently Lead Specialist for the Blood Stocks Management Scheme at NHS Blood and Transplant. He has been an active member of the Society for several years and was awarded Fellowship in 2022.
He joined BBTS Council in 2024 and has since contributed across a wide range of its work. His roles have included chairing the Communications Committee and the Transfusion Practitioners Special Interest Group, as well as leading the development of the Patient Blood Management Special Interest Group.
Alongside his Council responsibilities, Danny served as Bloodlines CPD Editor from 2023 to 2025. He is also a member of the Annual Conference Committee and the Professional Education Committee, and has supported the development of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee.
This appointment reflects his sustained contribution to the Society and continued commitment to strengthening professional engagement, education and collaboration within the transfusion community.
