Learning Objectives:
1. Improve understanding of clinical and transfusion aspects of paediatric trauma management.
2. Learn practical approaches to reducing laboratory errors in paediatric pre-transfusion testing and component selection.
3. Gain update-to-date view of current research in paediatric transfusion.
Brief Description:
The session will focus on transfusion for paediatric trauma, prevention of laboratory errors, an update on the science of paediatric transfuison, plus ‘Hot Topics’. Speakers are all experts in their fields, inciuding a Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine, a Chief Transfusion Scientist, and an internationally recognised researcher in transfusion medicine. The local ‘Guest Chair’ is a Consultant Paediatric Anaesthetist, and undoubtedly the session will provide both practical updates and interesting discussion.
