Brief Description:
This session will look at issues associated with red cell antibodies and the impact of them on the provision of red cells. The sensitisation with anti-D in RHD negative patients is an important issue as it increases the amount of O RhD negative red cells we use as a service. The use of monoclonal antibodies as a treatment for haematological malignancies is increasing, the problems associated to their use and how we provide safe red cell transfusions.
