International Woman in Transfusion Award

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Nancy Heddle is the winner of the 2009 International Woman in Transfusion Award.  She will receive the award at the BBTS Annual Scientific Meeting, September 2009.

Nancy is the Director of the Transfusion Research Programme and Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.  She has published close to 100 papers in journals and many reviews and chapters in books.  She has made a significant contribution to many areas of transfusion medicine including transfusion reactions, transfusion triggers, blood product utilisation, evidence-based medicine and biostatistics.  Nancy is a respected teacher, lecturer and mentor for many transfusion professionals and has regularly presented at national and international meetings.  Nancy is a worthy winner of this award.
