An updated version of the UK Cell Salvage Competency Assessment Workbook, a training framework for cell salvage operators, is now available on the DH Better Blood Transfusion Toolkit. A review of the workbook was undertaken by a newly established UK Intra-operative Cell Salvage Action Group. The workbook was originally produced to address training concerns and specifically the lack of competency assessments for this specialist area of practice.

The workbook has been endorsed by the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP), British Blood Transfusion Society and The Royal College of Anaesthetists. We are currently seeking endorsement from The Royal College of Surgeons and Association of Anaesthetists.
