The Special Interest Group for Transfusion Microbiology will hold a meeting at NIBSC, South Mimms, Herts on Thursday 22nd April 2010 from 10.30am – 4pm. The program is below.
Bacterial Screening and Pathogen Reduction
Bacterial transmission remains the major microbial cause of morbidity and mortality in transfusion medicine. Two interventions are available to blood services to reduce bacterial transmission by transfusion: bacterial screening and pathogen reduction. The meeting centres on these two interventions and we will provide information and discussions on this current ‘hot’ topic. Virology will be covered in the Pathogen Reduction section as these processes are also detected against viruses and parasites in addition to bacteria.
To register, please complete the form below and send, along with a cheque for £20.00 payable to BBTS Enterprises Ltd, to Ms E Wilkins, NIBSC, Blanche Lane, South Mimms, Herts EN6 3QG before 10th April 2010.
